With spring spranging back up, the calendar's filling up fast with rides, races, and tons of events promoting two-wheeled reverie. If you live in or around LA, these are the dates to save to get your cycle season started right!
If you like CicLAvia, you're going to love 626 Golden Streets! With 17+ miles of car-free cruising, from Pasadena to Irwindale, this is the longest "official" open streets event yet and should see tens of thousands of riders rolling through and enjoying the city from the comfort of their saddles. The organizers have a ton of activities planned along the route, food and drink options will be aplenty, and we'll have a booth set up to meet and greet the celebrating crowd and show off the brand new Volta prototype! Join anywhere along the route and roll wherever your heart desires - we'll see you on Sunday!
And if you prefer the longest "unofficial" open streets event in LA - Marathon Crash is back early early on Sunday March 19th! Once again, in the pre-sunrise hours on Sunday, a swarm of riders will meet at Tang's Donuts and then roll the Marathon route, enjoying the car-free streets, blocked off by the cops before the running race starts later in the day. This ride is one of the highlights of every bike-year, half party-ride, half slumber-party, and all awesome - if you can make it out, you definitely should. We'll see you there in the sea of blinking lights beneath the rising sun.
A week later, CicLAvia makes its triumphant return with the fan-favorite Culver City to Venice route! From the studios to the beach, the route offers a ton of sweet views, tasty food, and the roads should be packed with riders reveling in the springtime sun. We'll have our booth set up once again to share the swag, love, and soak up the sun ourselves. Call your crew together and roll out to enjoy the open streets on two wheels!
And once you're tuckered out from a month full of car-free cruising, recoup, recharge, and recover at the next Pure Cycles x People for Bikes Draft event right here at HQ! We'll be hosting another evening of bike-related businesses, advocacy organizations and, of course, beer, tacos, and riders just like you. We'll also have the Volta prototype on-site to show off and there's bound to be some post-Draft party rolls heading out into the night to keep the two-wheeled spirit spinning even after we wrap up for the night!
Come to one, come to them all, and if you don't live in LA, move. If you can't uproot your life that fast, though, start checking Facebook, Twitter, Insta, and the local bike scene to find out what's going on in your area. March is usually when it all kicks off bike-wise, and you won't want to miss those sweet spring events to get you back in the swing of things.
We'll see you out there.
