The Casual Rider

Maybe coining myself a casual rider is a bit of an oxymoron since I am riding into work every day. Nonetheless I am using that term and hope to encourage you all to be casual everyday bikers as well.

Requirement for the casual ride to work – A bike! If you don’t have one of those, you’ve come to the right place. Peruse our site or give one of our customer service guys a call. They can help get you on the right bike for you (and they love talking about bikes.) A helmet is also advisable.

Personally I forgo the spandex unless my mileage extends into the double digits.

It helps to have less items to lug around in your backpack.

Other optional items your co-workers might appreciate:

After you’ve freshened up, be sure to park your bike in a conspicuous place so others know you’ve ridden in.

But seriously, if you don’t work at a place that would allow this, park that sweet sweet ride of yours right out front of the building. When others see you’ve ridden, it tends to encourage them to give it a try.

If you’re hesitant to ride every day this month, try for every other or even a Tuesday/Thursday ride for now. May is National Bike to Work Month so consider April a warm up.

Warning – be prepared for your coworkers to be jealous of your gas savings!

And now that your parking space is free, you can finally install that hammock you’ve always wanted!
